About This Watch:

The blue dial version of the Zenith El Primero Flyback Stratos Ref 03.2607.405 was released in 2013 with subtle changes to the original version released in 2011. A light sky blue chronograph seconds hand takes the place of the red one on the earlier version. The blue ceramic bezel insert and blue sunburst pattern dial differ from the original. With the El Primero Caliber 405B high beat movement visible through the sapphire case back, the Flyback Stratos chronograph movement is a sports watch with a touch of elegance.

The History: If not for the foresight of Charles Vermot, there would be no modern Zenith El Primero movements today. The company was sold and made the move to manufacturing quartz-based movement timepieces. After being ordered to sell the metal materials, including the dies, machining tools & presses, Vermot chose to hide everything needed to restart production on the El Primero movement inside the factory in a loft area. When Zenith was approached by Rolex, years later, to produce a mechanical automatic chronograph movement for their Daytona model, Vermot had everything needed to begin production. Shortly after, Zenith began production again of its own mechanical watches using this magnificent movement.

The Watch: The Zenith El Primero Flyback Stratos Ref 03.2067.405 features a 45mm stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal and an exhibition case back. The unidirectional bezel features a blue ceramic insert with a 60-minute scale. The blue dial has a sunburst pattern with three sub-registers at the 3, 6, and 9 o’clock positions and features the Zenith star applied logo at the 12 o’clock position and a date window at the 6 o’clock position. The chronograph seconds hand is a lighter shade of blue, with an arrow at the tip and the Zenith star at the bottom. The applied lumed indices are metal with white lume, as are the hands. Powered by the El Primero Caliber 405B movement, the Stratos has a 50-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 100 meters.

The Details: This Zenith El Primero Flyback Stratos Ref 03.2067.405 is on the blue rubber strap with the Zenith stainless steel deployant clasp. There is minimal wear to the case and case back, as visible in the photographs. Included with this timepiece are the outer and inner boxes and the instruction manual.
