Nothing Moves Outside

Zoom and focus both work internally, so the barrel holds approximately 199 mm whether you are at 70mm or racked to 200mm. The lens does not pump air, the balance point stays put on a monopod or gimbal, and weather sealing has one less moving joint to worry about. The tripod mount comes off with a lock release button and no tools, and an LH-E1 lens holder is included for rig work.

Two Nano USM Motors

One Nano USM motor drives the autofocus group and a second drives a floating group, working independently. That keeps focus from drifting while you zoom and holds aberrations in check during burst or movie shooting, and it is quiet enough that in-camera audio stays clean. Focus breathing correction is supported on compatible bodies, and the RF 1.4x and 2x extenders work across the full 70-200mm range.

The Black Version

This is the black finish with the matching ET-88C (B) hood, at approximately 1110 g, marginally lighter than the 1115 g white model. The glass, the coatings, and every control are identical.
