The optical quality of this lens is impressive with 17 elements in 12 groups, including three UD glass elements and Air Sphere Coating (ASC) to reduce chromatic aberration and ghosting.

The RF135mm F1.8 L IS USM also comes with built-in Optical Image Stabilization (not previously seen on a Canon 135mm lens) to further enhance your low-light shooting abilities by providing up to 5.5 stops* of optical shake correction, and up to 8 stops* with Coordinated IS. Two programmable lens function buttons on the top and side of the lens barrel allow instant access to temporarily lock servo AP, or a multitude of other possible camera features.

Modern Design

The design of this lens is geared toward getting the job done with fast focusing, two programmable buttons, image stabilization, a programmable control ring, and more! Canon’s bayonet-mount Lens Hood ET-88 is included with this lens.

Sharp, Soft, and Bright

Three words you rarely hear together, but they fit this lens perfectly as your subject will be sharp and your background can be butter soft (if that is what you want), and the bright f/1.8 maximum aperture allows for great control over depth of field and bokeh, low-light shooting and video recording, with fast and reliable autofocus. It’s an outstanding “look” for portraits, fashion, video applications, and even some indoor sports.

Excellent Image Quality

Taking advantage of the Canon RF lens mount, the RF135mm F1.8 L IS USM lens offers great optical quality. Its optical design includes three Ultra-low Dispersion (UD) glass elements for high image quality from center to corner, and Canon Super Spectra Coating (“multi-coating”), and specialized Air Sphere Coating to minimize ghosting and flare.

Optical Image Stabilization — Up To 5.5 Stops* of Shake Correction

For consistently sharp results, the RF135mm F1.8 L IS USM features built-in optical Image Stabilization, providing enhanced shake reduction for up to 5.5 stops* of shake correction. When paired with an EOS R-series camera that has In-Body Image Stabilization (IBIS), the Coordinated IS allows for up to 8 stops* of correction. Steady hand-held video, and incredibly sharp available-light still images, are hallmarks of this new RF telephoto lens.

High-speed, Smooth and Quiet Autofocus with Nano USM

With any Canon EOS R-series camera, expect swift and positive autofocus. The Nano USM focus drive system is especially advantageous to video users, because of its combination of quiet operation and outstanding smoothness of focus changes during actual recording. And, AF during still-image shooting is quick and equally quiet.

Control Ring and Programmable Buttons for Direct Setting Changes

The RF135mm F1.8 L IS USM lens incorporates a control ring on the lens barrel that can directly adjust numerous settings including exposure settings for ambient or flash control, white balance, and more. Located towards the front of the lens and effectively adding a third dial to the EOS R camera's main dial and quick control dial, the control ring has a tactile, easily distinguished surface, with click-stops and features a clicking mechanism that provides tangible feedback for confident use while looking through the viewfinder.

Circular 9-Blade Aperture for Beautiful, Soft Backgrounds

Whether wide-open or with the aperture stopped down, you'll have no problem when shooting portrait images in getting that creative, fun and pleasantly smooth out-of-focus background blur we all love with the circular 9-blade aperture. Subjects will stand out, and the background provides a beautiful backdrop that's visually appealing in itself.
