The Fastest Wide-Angle M Lens

This is the fastest wide-angle in the Leica M-System, combining a 21 mm focal length with an f/1.4 maximum aperture previously unavailable in the M line. It opens up low-light shooting and shallow depth of field where other 21mm lenses can't follow.

Reference Wide-Angle Optics

A 10-element, 8-group design uses five anomalous-partial-dispersion elements to correct color and two aspherical surfaces for sharpness, while a floating element keeps quality high even at close range. Distortion is held to roughly 2.3% with well-corrected vignetting.

Precise Manual Control

A click-stop diaphragm with half-stop settings and a 9-blade aperture stops down to f/16 for smooth, controllable rendering. Rangefinder-coupled focusing reaches down to 0.7 m.

Made in Germany for the M-System

The lens carries a Leica M bayonet with 6-bit coding for digital M cameras, and uses Series VIII filters inserted into its patented rectangular screw-on hood. It is developed and manufactured in Germany.
