The 35mm focal length remains the most versatile reportage view, and this current Summilux improves on a legend: bokeh is visibly smoother, the diaphragm now uses eleven blades for rounder out-of-focus highlights, and close focus extends to 0.4m without sacrificing accuracy.

Precise Focusing Across the Range

A Leica-developed double-cam gear unit nearly doubles the focus-ring rotation to 176 degrees for fine control. You focus with the rangefinder down to 0.7m, then use Live View, the Visoflex viewfinder or the Leica FOTOS app to work the extended 0.7-0.4m close range.

Optics That Hold Up Wide Open

Nine elements in five groups, including one aspherical element, elements of anomalous partial dispersion and a floating group, keep image quality at the highest level even at short distances and at the fast f/1.4 aperture.

Safari Livery
