Compact Second-Generation Design

This redesigned Summilux-SL 50 is far more compact and lighter than the original, at approximately 75.5 mm long and 584 g. It is built to balance naturally on SL3-class cameras while keeping the full f/1.4 speed.

Fast Prime Optics

An 11-element, 6-group design with two aspherical surfaces, made using Leica's in-house PGM process, delivers shallow depth of field, strong subject isolation, and soft bokeh with high in-focus contrast at f/1.4.

Precise Voice-Coil Autofocus

A precision voice-coil AF drive focuses fast and near-silently, and the focus group is electromagnetically stabilized when the camera is powered on. The lens focuses as close as 0.5 m for tighter compositions.

Sealed and Refined

The all-metal aluminum housing is black anodized and sealed against dust and splash water to the IP54 standard, with a hydrophobic Aqua-Dura coating on the outer glass. An 11-blade diaphragm and E67 filter thread round out the design.
