The 84 degree angle of view covers interiors, landscapes, and environmental portraits without the stretched corners you get from going wider. At f/1.8 you have enough separation for a subject in a room, and the three aspherical elements plus four low-dispersion elements are there to hold corners clean, which matters most on landscapes and night skies.
