The Canon RF 10-20mm F4 L IS STM is the widest rectilinear zoom Canon makes for full-frame RF bodies, reaching about 130 degrees diagonally at 10mm with a constant f/4 aperture. A Super UD element, three UD elements, and three aspherical elements do the heavy lifting on correction, so straight lines stay straight and color fringing stays low at the extreme wide end.

It weighs about 1.3 lbs., zooms and focuses internally so the barrel never changes length, and carries L-series sealing with the hood built into the body. In-lens IS is rated at 5.0 stops and up to 6.0 stops when coordinated with in-body IS. One thing to plan for: there is no front filter thread, and filters go in a gelatin holder at the rear. The leadscrew-type STM motor and internal focus make focus pulls smooth and quiet, and internal zooming means the barrel does not change length or shift balance on a gimbal. In-lens stabilization is rated at 5.0 stops, and up to 6.0 stops when it coordinates with in-body IS on EOS R series cameras. The hood is built into the barrel, and L-series sealing covers the control ring, focus ring, zoom ring, operation panel, and mount.

Filters And Fit

There is no front filter thread. Filters go into a gelatin holder at the rear of the lens, so a polarizer or a screw-in ND is not an option here, and the Canon Gelatin Filter Holder III/IV accessories are not compatible.
