Brand Canon System Canon R

The Canon RF 24-240mm f/4-6.3 IS USM is a 10x all-in-one zoom for full-frame EOS R bodies, running from wide-angle to short telephoto without a lens change. Optical Image Stabilization is rated at 5 stops to the CIPA standard, and Dynamic IS steadies handheld footage in Movie Mode, so one lens handles a travel day of stills and video.

At approximately 750 g and 122.5 mm at its shortest, it balances well on an EOS R6 or R8, and the Nano USM motor focuses quickly without making noise your microphone will pick up. The honest tradeoff is aperture: f/6.3 at 240mm means higher ISO indoors or after sunset. If you are weighing this against carrying two lenses, our team can talk through where each one wins.

Buy from an authorized Canon dealer like Camera West to ensure a genuine product with full manufacturer warranty and expert support.

All shipments are fully insured; orders over $150 require a signature. FedEx Express 2-Day and Overnight within the US. Returns accepted within 14 days and are subject to a 15% restocking fee.

Wide To Telephoto

A 10x range from 24mm to 240mm covers landscapes, street, portraits, and distant detail on one full-frame body. Minimum focus is 1.64 ft. (0.50 m) at the wide end and 2.56 ft. (0.78 m) at the long end, with 0.26x maximum magnification at 240mm for close work without a dedicated macro.

Stabilization For Video

Optical Image Stabilization is rated at 5 stops to the CIPA standard, tested on an EOS R at 240mm. This is also the first Canon full-frame lens with Dynamic IS, which works in Movie Mode to smooth out handheld footage while you walk. The Nano USM drive combines ring-type USM with an STM mechanism, so autofocus is fast for stills and quiet enough not to show up on an in-camera audio track.

What You Give Up

The tradeoff for the range is aperture. At 240mm you are working at f/6.3, so indoor and low-light shooting means higher ISO or a tripod. Optical performance across a 10x zoom also will not match a shorter prime or an L-series zoom. If you want one lens on the camera for a trip, that is a reasonable trade; if you shoot in dim rooms regularly, look at faster glass.
