Brand Nikon System Nikon Z

The Nikon NIKKOR Z 28-75mm f/2.8 is a constant-aperture standard zoom for full-frame Z bodies, running from a 75 degree wide view at 28mm through 35mm and 50mm and on to 75mm for portraits. One super ED element, one ED element, and three aspherical elements hold resolution steady across the range, and the nine-blade rounded diaphragm keeps out-of-focus highlights round wide open.

At 565 g and 120.5 mm it is the lightest full-frame f/2.8 standard zoom Nikon builds, roughly 30 percent under the 24-70mm f/2.8 S, and the control ring can be assigned to aperture or exposure compensation for silent changes while recording. Starting at 28mm rather than 24mm is the real compromise, and close focus of 0.19 m helps make up for it. Come try it on your body if you want to know whether you will miss those 4mm.

Constant f/2.8 Standard Zoom

28mm to 75mm at a fixed f/2.8 runs from a 75 degree wide view through 35mm and 50mm and on to a portrait-friendly 75mm. One super ED element, one ED element, and three aspherical elements keep resolution stable across the range, and a nine-blade rounded diaphragm renders out-of-focus highlights as round shapes rather than polygons. The compromise worth naming: it starts at 28mm, not 24mm.

Lightest Of Its Kind

565 g and 120.5 mm long, which Nikon puts at nearly 30 percent lighter than the NIKKOR Z 24-70mm f/2.8 S. Filters are a 67mm thread, shared with the Z 17-28mm f/2.8 and Z 70-180mm f/2.8, so one set of polarizers and NDs covers the whole f/2.8 trio. The barrel is sealed against dust and water droplets and the front element carries an antifouling coating.

Close Focus And Video

Minimum focus is 0.19 m at 28mm from the focal plane, close enough to fill the frame with a small subject or work in a tight space. For video, Nikon reduced the shift in angle of view when focus moves and kept exposure control stable through the zoom. The control ring can be assigned to aperture or exposure compensation for silent changes, and the stepping motor keeps autofocus quiet on the soundtrack.
