Double The Focal Length

The TC-2.0x mounts between the camera and a compatible NIKKOR Z telephoto and doubles focal length, so a 70-200mm f/2.8 works as a 140-400mm and a 400mm f/4.5 becomes an 800mm. Effective aperture drops two stops, which is the real cost and worth thinking about before you buy: a 180-600mm at f/6.3 lands at f/13. Maximum reproduction ratio doubles as well, and the lens keeps its own minimum focus distance.

This is not a universal teleconverter. Nikon lists eight compatible lenses: the Z 70-180mm f/2.8, Z 70-200mm f/2.8 VR S, Z 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 VR S, Z 180-600mm f/5.6-6.3 VR, Z 400mm f/2.8 TC VR S, Z 400mm f/4.5 VR S, Z 600mm f/4 TC VR S, and Z 800mm f/6.3 VR S.
