The Light Lens Lab 35mm f/2 Apochromatic is the first lens in Light Lens Lab's High Performance Series and the maker's first apochromatic design. It is a Leica M-mount 35mm built around a newly developed floating optical system of 11 elements in 6 groups with four aspherical elements. Ultra-low-dispersion and anomalous partial-dispersion glass, paired with a high-transmission multilayer coating, hold chromatic aberration and purple fringing in check under backlit and high-contrast light, so the lens stays sharp with good distortion control and edge-to-edge performance wide open at f/2.

Pick your finish and barrel: black paint or silver chrome over aerospace-grade aluminum, or titanium grey, each offered with or without close-focus knurling. A preset diaphragm with half-increment lock settings and a precision-machined focusing mechanism running on miniature bearings give it smooth, repeatable handling down to a 0.3 m close focus. If you shoot street, environmental portraits, or still life on your M, our team can help you match it to your body and workflow.

Buy from an authorized Light Lens Lab dealer like Camera West to ensure a genuine product with full manufacturer warranty and expert support.

High Performance Series

The 35mm f/2 Apochromatic is the first lens in Light Lens Lab's independently developed High Performance Series, and its first apochromatic design. A newly developed floating optical system of 11 elements in 6 groups, with four aspherical elements, anchors the series' approach to optical correction.

Apochromatic Correction

Ultra-low-dispersion and anomalous partial-dispersion glass, combined with a high-transmission multilayer coating, suppress chromatic aberration and purple fringing under backlit and other demanding light. At f/2 the lens holds sharpness, distortion control, and edge-to-edge performance while keeping out-of-focus areas smooth and transitions natural.

Build and Handling

Finished in black paint over aerospace-grade aluminum, the barrel is machined to high precision, with a focusing mechanism running on miniature bearings for smooth, accurate operation. This version ships without close-focus knurling. A 0.3 m minimum focusing distance keeps it flexible for street work and environmental portraits, and gets you close for still life.
