About This Watch:

The Longines Heritage Military 1938 Ref L2.826.4.53.2 was produced as a reissue of their 43mm Military model, originally produced in 1938, just before the start of WWII. A limited edition run of only 1938 pieces, the Heritage Military maintains not only the same case size as the original, but the detailing on the dial is nearly identical while being powered by a modern manual wind Calibre 507.2 movement.

The History: Founded by Auguste Agassiz and his partners Henri Raiguel and Floria Morel in 1832, Longines began producing timepieces in Saint-Imier, Switzerland. Upon his retirement, Agassiz brought on his nephew, Ernest Francillon, in 1852, who spearheaded the movement to purchase land for a factory and modernize production. The factory was built in an area known for its long meadows (les longines), which the company eventually adopted as its name, Longines, in 1867.

The Watch: The Longines Heritage Military 1938 features a 43mm stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal. The dial is black with luminous Arabic numeral hour markers, a minute track at the outer edge of the dial, and a small seconds counter at the 6 o’clock position with a fine smaller seconds track. The hour and minute hands are pencil-shaped and filled with lume. Powered by a manual wind Calibre 507.2 movement, the Heritage Military 1938 has a power reserve of approximately 53 hours.

The Details: This Longings Heritage Military 1938 is in very good condition. There is some wear visible on the case and lugs, which is visible in the photos. The case back sticker is still present. This timepiece is #1281/1938. This timepiece comes with both outer and inner boxes, the instruction booklet, warranty card, and Longines strap changing tool, a grey leather strap, brown leather NATO strap, serial number hang tag, and Longines Sports Legends book, still sealed in original wrapping.
