For many adventure photographers, travel involves not only long distances in the air but seemingly longer distances walking through airport terminals. Shimoda recognizes that carrying camera gear on your back is not always a desired experience. They felt a better solution was required to make travel easier while also limiting the amount of travel related luggage.
Shimoda's solution: a Carry-On compatible roller — one that meets most airline requirements and houses Shimoda’s camera protecting Core Units and Accessory Cases. This simple-to-use system lets you transfer camera gear from roller to backpack quickly and seamlessly without ever removing gear from its protective case. This greatly reduces the amount of bulk material you travel with, while saving you a few sweaty backs, keeping your travel experience a little more positive.
Shimoda's roller is built with materials and construction techniques they developed to best meet the needs of travelers and the unpredictable environments the find themselves in. The Carbonate Ether resin-coated shell features a unique double-sided resin application process that provides incredible water resistance if you happen to get caught walking or waiting in the rain. Oversized, industry-leading YKK zippers promise durability and reliability over the life of your roller. And our wheels remain quiet when rolling around town; yet have an aggressive tread if you find yourself in less developed environments.
- International Carry-On Friendly - Shimoda's roller is sized to meet most airline carry-on requirements. Since carry-on dimensions vary by airplane size and style, and regulations are always changing, they recommend checking with your airline before flight. The Carry-On roller will ensure your gear makes it on board safely (with you) and remains protected from not only bumps but also from dishonest strangers.
- Easy Access Doctor Bag-Style Opening - The doctor opening allows wide, unobstructed access to your gear, and it maintains a small footprint whether open or closed.
- Uniquely Modular - Compatible with all of Shimoda's DSLR and Mirrorless Core Units and Accessory Cases so you can completely customize the interior layout.
- Expandable Volume - Not every mission involves the overhead compartment. Some days are local and require a little more carry volume. The Carry-On roller is built with an expandable upper section that increases the main compartment volume on demand.
- Side Panel Pockets - Each side of the bag features a full-length zippered pocket. The right side has an interior passport pocket located in an easy to reach area. The left side includes a security strap to secure a tripod.

Testing & Inspection
Each piece of pre-owned gear undergoes extensive testing and inspection to ensure it's in good working order. We meticulously note the finer details of an item's condition or function to maintain transparency. This attention to detail may deter some buyers when we mention "minor dust" in a lens, or "faint edge wear" on an otherwise mint condition camera. However, we note these details out of our responsibility to provide an accurate and wholistic representation of the item to you.
Real Photos & Description of The Specific Item
We provide a photo of each pre-owned item for sale, refusing to use generic images. Despite the time, effort, and cost saved, we consider using generic images dishonest. Each pre-owned item you view on our website includes specific photos and description written up by a real person, and photographed in house before we publish an item for sale.
24hr Inspection Period
All pre-owned items come with a 24-hour inspection period (beginning once the item is delivered) to ensure the item arrives as described. If any issues arise, we request you contact us immediately at support@camerawest.com so we can address the problem.
Our Cosmetic Condition Grading
All of our pre-owned items will contain a grade. This grade is a reflection of the cosmetics of an item only. (mechanics and function are noted in the description)
- 10- LIKE NEW | Item shows no visible signs of use. Usually includes some, if not all, of the original packaging. Item can be considered like new.9+VERY GOODItem shows very slight handling wear. Item is almost new, but used lightly.
- 9 GOOD | Item shows minor handling wear, usually shows some signs of edge wear.
- 8+ AVERAGE | Item shows regular signs of use, some edge wear, and normal cosmetic marks from general use.
- 8 BELOW AVERAGE | Item shows significant wear from normal use. Some paint loss, and edge wear. Regular cosmetic marks are visible.
- 7+ ACCEPTABLE BARGAIN | Item shows nominal signs of heavy use. Significant paint loss, edge wear and cosmetic marks are visible throughout the item.7AVERAGE BARGAINItem shows significant signs of heavy handling. Significant paint loss, edge wear, and visual marks can be seen throughout the item.
- 6+ EXTREME BARGAIN | Item shows extreme signs of heavy handling. Extreme paint loss, edge wear and visual marks can be seen throughout the item.
All our shipments are fully insured. For shipments valued over $150, a direct signature will be required upon delivery.
We utilize various shipping carriers, with FedEx Express being our primary choice for 2-Day and Overnight shipping within the US, as well as International deliveries.
We accept returns within 14 days of delivery, subject to a restocking fee of up to 15%. This fee is not for profit, but to cover the costs associated with selling an item. Each return is evaluated individually, and we strive to minimize this fee. In many instances, we waive it entirely if the refund credit can be applied towards another item in the store.
Please note, all returned items must be in the condition in which they were shipped. If the items are returned in a different condition, we will not be able to accept them.
Every item we sell comes with a pre-owned warranty.
Unless noted as "AS IS", all items come with a 90-day warranty through Camera West. This warranty does not cover theft, improper use, fire or water damage, or any issues unrelated to the item functioning as intended by the manufacturer.
If you need to utilize the warranty, please contact us directly at support@camerawest.com to open a support ticket. This allows us to assist you effectively with the repair of your item. We do not accept receipts from repairs conducted without our consent. We need to manage the repair and inspection process from start to finish to ensure the issue is properly resolved and the product is returned to you in working condition.
Please note that vintage gear may require extra patience. Despite thorough inspection and testing, these items, like vintage cars, may develop issues due to their age. Even the most beautifully restored vintage items may have minor issues. They are no longer new and should be treated with special care and attentio
