14" Laptop Compatible – The full-width internal pocket fits a 14" laptop with a protective case. For adequate protection, we recommend always using a laptop sleeve or case, as the pocket has only light padding.


Camera Insert Compatible – The bag can accommodate a Hadley Large Padded Insert, but it is not designed as a dedicated camera bag. Without attachment studs, the insert cannot be secured, and it reduces access to internal features such as the pockets and water bottle holder.


Ideal for Hybrid Carry – Pair the bag with the Capsule 1 insert to carry camera equipment alongside everyday essentials. The insert fits vertically, leaving room for a laptop, water bottle, and other daily items.


Secure Internal Lining – Side studs keep the internal lining firmly in place, preventing it from being pulled out or turning inside out during everyday use.


Classic Handle-Free Design – Inspired by the original Hadley messenger bag, the Icon omits a top handle to maintain its clean, timeless silhouette.

What camera insert fits in this bag?

A Hadley Large Padded Insert does fit inside; however, we don’t recommend it. The Icon isn’t designed as a camera bag therefore there are no internal press studs for an insert to securely attach to. In addition, the internal pockets and features such as the water bottle holder will not be able to be used to their full potential or at all with a camera insert in.

What laptop can fit in the full width pocket?

A 14” laptop can fit in the full width internal pocket, with a case. We strongly recommend using a case because this full width pocket has no padding on one side and mild padding on the other, therefore is not sufficient to protect your laptop alone.

Why are there studs on the sides of the bag?

The lining inside this bag is attached only around the top edge. The side studs help hold the lining securely in place, preventing it from being pulled out or turning inside out when the bag is used.


What if I want to carry camera gear and everyday items?

The Capsule 1 is a great fit for the Icon as it fits vertically and still has plenty of room for everyday items such as a laptop with a case, water bottle etc.

If you only want to carry camera gear, we recommend looking at our Hadley Pro/Hadley Pro 2020, Hadley One or Hadley Large Camera Bags.

Why is there no top handle?

The Icon takes its inspiration from the Hadley Original, our iconic messenger bag. To preserve the simplicity and timeless look of the original design, we chose not to include a top handle.
