The Canon EOS R50 V is the interchangeable-lens half of Canon's V-series, a flat APS-C body with no viewfinder, a front record button, and a second tripod socket on the side so it mounts vertically without a cage. The 24.2 megapixel sensor and DIGIC X processor give you 6K-oversampled 4K up to 30p, cropped 4K 60p, and 10-bit Canon Log 3 for grading.

The Kit Lens Is the Point

The RF-S 14-30mm f/4-6.3 IS STM PZ gives a 22.4 to 48mm equivalent view, wide enough to hold the camera at arm's length and still fit yourself in frame. It is a power zoom with two-step variable speed and 15 levels, and the barrel does not extend, so balance on a gimbal or tripod stays put while you zoom. It weighs 181 g and focuses to 0.15 m.

Know the Limits

There is no in-body stabilization, so you are relying on the lens IS (5 stops on its own) plus Movie Digital IS. Full-width 4K tops out at 30p oversampled from 6K; 4K 60p comes with a crop. The shutter is electronic only, which means rolling shutter on fast pans and no flash sync above 1/250 sec. For a body this size and price those are reasonable trades, and we are happy to show you where they show up in practice.
