We are happy to introduce you a special edition of Gus Powell's The Lonely Ones: the Real Fake Edition!
In 2020, Gus Powell found out his book The Lonely Ones, which was published by J&L Books in 2015, was constructed in the form of a cardboard box designed to look like his book’s cover to be used as a prop.
This discovery was published by Margaret Rhodes, a writer for The Strategist "Powell has started referring to the fake book as his 'third edition.' (The second was printed in English, Italian, and Japanese in 2017.) 'The thing I like about making books is they have lives of their own,' he says. 'The idea that the book would not only have a life of its own, but this simulation of it would come to exist, it’s amazing. And besides, not everybody gets to have a fake book.'"
We brought the "third edition" knock off to life! This edition of 25 Real Fake Edition features a 4x5" archival pigment print signed, numbered, and handcrafted by Gus Powell. Gus Powell picked the the first image from The Lonely Ones for this special edition.
