The Hanhart 417 ES Panda Flyback Chronograph 42 Ref H721.210-7010 is a striking modern interpretation of Hanhart’s legendary mid-century pilot’s chronographs, blending vintage military styling with contemporary mechanical performance. Its 42mm stainless steel case features the brand’s signature fluted rotating bezel with a red marker, while the high-contrast panda dial, oversized luminous numerals, and bi-compax layout deliver exceptional legibility and unmistakable retro character. Powered by the hand-wound Sellita AMT5100 M column-wheel flyback chronograph movement, the watch offers a smooth, highly functional flyback complication and a 58-hour power reserve. Finished with a domed sapphire crystal, a sapphire display caseback, and a classic leather bund-style strap, the 417 ES Panda Flyback captures the spirit of vintage aviation chronographs while offering the durability and refinement expected of a modern tool watch.
The History: Founded in 1882 by Johann A. Hanhart in Diessenhofen, Switzerland, Hanhart grew from a small watch shop into one of the most respected names in German chronograph and stopwatch production. The company relocated to Schwenningen, Germany, in 1902, where it became renowned for precision mechanical stopwatches and later for its iconic pilot’s chronographs used by aviators and military personnel during the 1930s and 1940s. Hanhart gained particular recognition for its innovative single-pusher chronographs and signature red reset pusher, features that remain closely associated with the brand today. After decades of producing professional timing instruments and aviation watches, Hanhart revived many of its historic designs in modern collections, blending vintage military styling with contemporary German craftsmanship and engineering.
The Watch: The Hanhart 417 ES Panda Flyback Chronograph 42mm features a 42mm stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal, a fluted bi-directional rotating bezel, and an exhibition case back. The white panda-style dial features large lumed Arabic numerals, two black sub-dials at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions, and lumed hour, minute, and central chronograph hands. Powered by the manual-wind Sellita AMT5100M flyback movement, the 417 ES features a 58-hour power reserve and a water resistance rating of 100 meters.
The Details: This Hanhart 417 ES Panda Flyback Chronograph Ref H721.210-7010 includes the outer and inner boxes, black leather Hanhart watch pouch, the warranty card, the instruction manual, the Hanhart cleaning cloth, and the black leather Hanhart bund-style strap with a stainless steel buckle.
