Records Straight To SSD

The S5IIX writes Apple ProRes 422 HQ at up to 1.9Gbps and 4:2:2 10-bit All-Intra directly to an external SSD over USB-C, so long takes do not fill SD cards and the footage lands in an edit-ready codec. Full sensor open gate recording at 6K and 5.8K gives you room to crop vertical and square deliverables out of the same take.

779-Point Phase AF

This generation moved LUMIX from contrast and DFD focusing to phase detection, with 779 points and a detection range down to EV -6. Subject detection covers human face, eye and body plus animals, and once a subject is locked the camera keeps it when other people or objects cross the frame. The practical difference shows up most in continuous autofocus while recording.

Built To Keep Rolling

A small fan and a heat sink sit inside the body, which is what allows 4:2:2 10-bit C4K and 4K 60p recording with no time limit from 0 to 104 degrees Fahrenheit. Live streaming runs two ways: wireless RTMP and RTMPS set up through the LUMIX Lab app, or a wired connection when you need the stability of a cable.
