Brand Leica System Leica M

The Summicron-M 50mm f/2 is the reference standard-lens for the Leica M system, and it has earned that reputation across generations of photographers. Its six-element, four-group design delivers pronounced sharpness wide open and a subtle, natural bokeh, while micro-contrast tightens beautifully from f/2.8 onward for work on the latest high-resolution sensors and on film alike.

Machined from brass and aluminum and calibrated by hand in Wetzlar, it stays compact at roughly 240 g with an integrated, one-hand extendable hood. Whether you shoot documentary, portrait, or everyday frames, our team can help you pair this classic 50 with the right M body and filters.

Buy from an authorized Leica dealer like Camera West to ensure a genuine product with full manufacturer warranty and expert support.

All shipments are fully insured; orders over $150 require a signature. FedEx Express 2-Day and Overnight within the US. Returns accepted within 14 days and are subject to a 15% restocking fee.

Timeless Optical Character

A six-lens, four-group construction with coated glass minimizes reflections, lifts contrast, and suppresses flare. You get pronounced basic sharpness with a gently cinematic bokeh at f/2, and from f/2.8 the micro-contrast rendition improves across the whole field.

Made and Calibrated in Wetzlar

Crafted from brass and aluminum and manually calibrated in Germany, the Summicron-M 50 is built to last. At roughly 240 g it stays light and discreet for all-day carry, with an integrated, extendable lens hood you can operate one-handed.

Responsive Everyday Handling

A short, fluid focusing path down to 0.7 m makes spontaneous shooting effortless. Neutral color rendering keeps series work consistent, and the Leica M bayonet with 6-bit encoding communicates cleanly with digital M bodies.
