The Light Lens Lab 35mm f/1.4 Aspherical “11873” is a reverent nod to one of the most celebrated lenses in photographic history, the Leica 35mm "AA" Double aspherical, reimagined for photographers working today.
At its core, this lens pays faithful homage to the groundbreaking double aspherical optical concept that made the original so sought after. But this is not a replica frozen in time. Light Lens Lab has refined the formula with modern advancements in rendering, distortion control, and chromatic aberration suppression, making it a natural partner for today’s high resolution digital sensors.
Precision molded and manually polished aspherical elements work together with newly developed Extra Low Dispersion (ED) and achromatic elements to deliver exceptional clarity, improved edge performance, and cleaner color separation. Distortion is kept in check, diffraction is minimized, and chromatic aberrations are carefully controlled without sacrificing character.
And that character is the reason lenses like this matter. Wide open at f/1.4, the 11873 retains the signature, controlled “glow” that photographers chase, thanks in part to lanthanide infused optical elements. It’s a look that feels organic, dimensional, and unmistakably classic, yet refined enough to stand up to modern expectations.
Every aspect of this lens reflects Light Lens Lab’s commitment to craft. From the optical design to the mechanical components, everything is designed, manufactured, and assembled entirely in house. The result is a lens that feels purposeful in the hand and intentional in the image, built for photographers who value both precision and personality.

We offer a concierge trade-in program for the gear you'd like to upgrade, cross-grade, or simply pass on to a new owner. This enables you to acquire the tools that fit your specific needs. The easiest way to trade is to bring your gear into one of our stores and meet with us in person. However, we also accommodate those who can't visit our stores. Our online process is both personal and simple.
To begin, fill out the form on our Trade // Sell page with the details of the fine photographic equipment or watches you'd like to trade in. One of our team members will then contact you to confirm any details we might need for an accurate estimate. We will provide an estimate that doesn’t only look at the value of your trade in but the whole picture of where you want to go. If the estimate is satisfactory to you, we can provide a shipping label for you to ship your gear to one of our stores for a final inspection and store credit. Finally, we apply that credit towards your new gear!
