About This Watch:

The Montblanc 1858 Automatic Limited Edition timepiece features a design inspired by the earliest field watches from WWII. Details such as cathedral-style hands and a high-contrast dial with large Arabic numerals for clear legibility, give the 1858 a vintage aesthetic. The case back stands out with its detailed Mont Blanc relief and compass rose.

The History: Montblanc’s watchmaking history actually began in 1858 under Charles-Yvan Robert in Switzerland, as Minerva, a watch company that would quickly become one of the leading watchmakers for professional timepieces worldwide, known for their precision chronometry. In 2006, Richemont Group acquired Minerva and made it a subsidiary of Montblanc, as the primary production manufacturer for Montblanc timepieces.

The Watch: The Montblanc 1858 Automatic Limited Edition features a 40mm stainless steel case with a highly domed sapphire crystal. The brushed case features a large onion-style crown, and a solid case back with a detailed relief of the Mont Blanc mountain range as well as a smaller compass rose. The dial on the 1858 timepiece is matte black with large Arabic numerals in a beige-colored SuperLuminova, the Montblanc logo under the 12 o’clock position, cathedral-style hands filled with beige-colored SuperLuminova, and a minutes track at the outer edge. Powered by the Caliber MB 24.15 movement, which is based on a Sellita SW200-1, the 1858 watch has a 38-hour power reserve and is water resistant to 100 meters.

The Details: This pre-owned Montblanc 1858 Automatic is in good condition, with some minor wear marks on the lugs and case, which are visible in the photographs. This timepiece comes with an aftermarket brown nubuck strap with a stainless steel buckle.
