About This Watch:

The Omega Automatic Ref 166.0141 is full of interesting and unique details, making it stand out amongst other timepieces from this era. Based on the Geneve case of its time, with a flat front tonneau-style case in brushed stainless steel, the 166.0141 has a bezel-free case with an acrylic crystal and a notched screw-down case back. The dial on the 166.0141 features a “Guilloché-style” pattern around the dial's circumference and across the middle, with alternating black lines against the metal, creating an illusion of depth, much like a barcode.

The History: The Omega Company was started by Louis Brandt in 1848 in Le Chaux de Fonds, Switzerland. Brandt’s sons would later expand the company and manufacture their own parts, including their first mass-produced caliber movement, the Labrador, in 1884. They continued their work and made the 19-line OMEGA caliber a decade later, which gave the company its name. After the turn of the century, Omega became the official timekeeper for several sporting events, which led to their eventual selection as the single timekeeper of the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1932.

The Watch: The Omega Automatic Ref 166.0141 features a 35mm stainless steel case with a domed acrylic crystal. Powered by a 17-jewel Calibre 750 movement, the 166.0141 features a day-and-date function and has a 50-hour power reserve. The silver dial features a minute track at the outer circumference, followed by the “Guilloché-style” track underneath the hour markers. The metallic hour markers have tritium lume plots at the tips. The “Guilloché” pattern also runs horizontally across the center of the dial, with an opening for the day and date window at the 3 o’clock position. The pencil-style hour and minute hands feature a black insert towards the base of each hand and a lumed insert near the pointed tips.

The Details: This Omega Automatic Ref 166.0141 dates to the production year of 1970. The case appears unpolished, with sharp case lines present, and has the original crystal with the Omega logo etching. The wear on the case and case back is consistent with the age of this timepiece and is visible in the photographs. Included with this watch is an aftermarket grey suede strap with stainless steel buckle.

Product information

We appreciate and encourage the resale of pre-owned gear. Well made gear is built to last, and despite a rapidly evolving market, frequent upgrades, and some companies phasing out gear quickly, we aim to constantly find new lives for pre-owned items. We are committed to ensuring the pre-owned gear you purchase from Camera West is in a condition that promises reliability for years to come.

Testing & Inspection

Each piece of pre-owned gear undergoes extensive testing and inspection to ensure it's in good working order. We meticulously note the finer details of an item's condition or function to maintain transparency. This attention to detail may deter some buyers when we mention "minor dust" in a lens, or "faint edge wear" on an otherwise mint condition camera. However, we note these details out of our responsibility to provide an accurate and wholistic representation of the item to you.

Real Photos & Description of The Specific Item

We provide a photo of each pre-owned item for sale, refusing to use generic images. Despite the time, effort, and cost saved, we consider using generic images dishonest. Each pre-owned item you view on our website includes specific photos and description written up by a real person, and photographed in house before we publish an item for sale.

24hr Inspection Period

All pre-owned items come with a 24-hour inspection period (beginning once the item is delivered) to ensure the item arrives as described. If any issues arise, we request you contact us immediately at support@camerawest.com so we can address the problem.
