Closest focus is 0.204m measured from the sensor plane, which leaves enough working distance in front of the glass to light a small subject without the lens shading it. Away from macro work the 100mm focal length and 24 degree angle of view make it usable for portraits and detail shots at distance.

Panasonic called it the world's smallest and lightest 1:1 macro lens at 90mm or longer for AF full-frame mirrorless as of January 8, 2024.
