Tag Heuer Carrera Monaco Ref CAW-211P, Boxed WPR2599

$3,800.00 Out Of Stock

About This Watch:

Heuer released its original version of this timepiece, the famed square-case Monaco 1133B, powered by one of the first automatic chronograph movements offered for sale to the public, the Caliber 11, in March 1969. Actor Steve McQueen insisted on wearing one during the filing of his 1971 movie Le Mans, which helped propel the Monaco to the iconic status it holds today. The Ref CAW211P was released in 2015 and is a faithful re-edition to the original, with modern updates to the movement and crystal.

The History: Heuer brand was created in 1860, and specialized in stopwatches and chronographs. Their focus was on instruments used in sports, such as dashboard timers. However, the focus shifted for Heuer brands in the late 1950s, and early 1960s, as the popularity of chronograph wristwatches was gaining momentum. In 1962, when Jack Heuer, a race car driver, and motorsport enthusiast, became head of the company, he spearheaded the creation of the Carrera watch.

The Watch: The Tag Heuer Carrera Monaco Ref CAW211P features a 39mm x 39mm square-shaped stainless steel case with a sapphire crystal and an exhibition case-back. The crown is on the left side of the case with the chronograph pushers on the right. The matte blue dial features two square-shaped sub-dials at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions and a date window at the 6 o’clock position. Red hour markers, a red chronograph hand along with red accents on the hour and minute hands are faithful to the aesthetics of the original. Powered by a Sellita SW-300 Base movement with a Dubois-Depraz Chronograph Module, the Calibre 11 has a 40-hour power reserve.

The Details: This Tag Heuer Carrera Monaco Ref CAW211P comes with the rally-style Tag Heuer black leather strap with Tag Heuer deployant clasp. The watch shows minimal wear, which is visible in the photographs. Included with this timepiece are the inner and outer boxes, instruction manual, warranty card, and Monaco booklet.
