Vintage Vulcain Chronograph Ref 1376 (9)

$1,200.00 Out Of Stock

About This Watch:

Vulcain produced the 1376 Chronograph from the early 1960s to the mid-1970s, with the earlier editions featuring a Valjoux 7733 movement and the later the Valjoux 236. The Valjoux 236 version, featured here, has central hours and minute hands, a central chronograph second hand, and two sub-dials with a 30-minute counter at the 3 o’clock position and a running small seconds at the 9 o’clock.

The History: Founded in 1858 in La Chaux De Fonds, Switzerland, Vulcain produced one of the earliest alarm complications in a wristwatch. This innovation brought popularity among US Presidents, including Harry S. Truman, giving Vulcain the reputation of being “The Watch for Presidents.” Vulcain continues to produce timepieces today, including their patented V-11 Cricket Calibre.

The Watch: This Vulcain Chronograph Ref 1376 features a 37mm nickel-plated brass case and an acrylic crystal. The silver panda-style dial features a red timing scale and a black minutes track at the outer edge. The hour markers are metal with baton-shaped hour and minute hands and a bright red chronograph seconds hand. The two black sub-dials feature white pencil-shaped hands. The screw-down case back is stainless steel.

The Details: This vintage Vulcain 1376 Chronograph is in good condition. The case appears to be unpolished and has sharp case lines present throughout. Some patina has developed on the sub-dials, and the nickel plating on the chronograph pushers has worn off around the outer edges, revealing the brass base metal.
