Handling and Operation

Built to accommodate an image angle that likens itself to the human eye the 50mm Summilux-M F/1.4 ASPH will be useful for just about any photographic situation. Known for its extremely wide maximum aperture the 50mm Summilux-M is the perfect lens for available light shooting. When combined with Leica’s newer CMOS sensors the 50mm Summilux-M is a powerful lowlight tool. The Summilux-M also excels at subject separation and image compression for those “dreamy” out-of-focus backgrounds and almost three-dimensional subjects.

Optical Design

The Summilux-M lenses are the best fast primes on the market. Engineered and built by the optical specialists in Wetzlar, Germany the Summilux-M is crafted with the utmost care. The 50mm Summilux-M F/1.4 renders images with natural colors, fantastic sharpness, and high contrast. The Summilux-M also features floating real elements making close focusing easier and sharpening frame edges. The Summilux-M also features an aspherical lens giving the Summilux-M lenses the least amount of optical issues such as aberrations which are common in some fast primes.

Fit and Finish

Despite advanced optical engineering, and great maximum aperture, the 50mm is still very portable, making it a perfect lens to leave on your camera at all times. The Summilux-M is very convenient for regular carrying and shooting and balances very well with the Leica M cameras. Built to last a lifetime, the 50mm Summilux features an anodized finish giving this lens an extremely durable coating. You will also find that this lens has a built-in collapsible hood removing the need for cumbersome external hoods. This lens also includes a leather case for safe transportation.

The easiest way to trade is to bring your gear into one of our stores and meet with us in person. However, we also accommodate those who can't visit our stores. Our online process is both personal and simple.

To begin, fill out the form on our Trade // Sell page with the details of the fine photographic equipment or watches you'd like to trade in. One of our team members will then contact you to confirm any details we might need for an accurate estimate. We will provide an estimate that doesn’t only look at the value of your trade in but the whole picture of where you want to go. If the estimate is satisfactory to you, we can provide a shipping label for you to ship your gear to one of our stores for a final inspection and store credit. Finally, we apply that credit towards your new gear!
